一、失智症是一群症狀的組合(症候群)，由各種可影響記憶、思考、行為和日常生活能力的大腦病症導致而成。失智症患者的徵狀與特性中，問題行為被認為是照護過程中最困難的項目之一。
二、依據衛生福利部委託社團法人台灣失智症協會進行之「失智症(含輕度認知功能障礙)流行病學與失智症照護研究計畫」，且於102年4月公告之統計資料，我國65歲以上患有失智症長者其盛行率為4.97%，推估本縣65歲以上老年人罹患失智症者約8,990人，然而依據本縣102年6月底身心障礙人口統計，身心障礙手冊申請人口中僅有2,990人為失智症患者，顯示可能仍有約66.7%的失智患者尚未被診斷出。
三、請協助宣導為早期發現失智症個案，可使用「AD-8極早其失智症篩檢量表」進行初期篩檢(附件1)，另檢附桃園縣設有精神科或神經內科醫院一覽表(附件2)，請善加利用。
